This fully remote opportunity allows you the flexibility to work from home in support of Epsilon’s USDA DISC Customer.
Our Customer’s Mission:
The USDA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) operates 24/7/365 to provide comprehensive on premises and cloud-based hosting services, including Disaster Recovery, security, and professional support services and operations to approximately 35 federal organizations. The USDA and other Federal partners depend upon DISC’s highly complex and interconnected technology infrastructure to conduct their operations. To better support this mission, DISC is modernizing their technology by transitioning to a continuous integration, deployment, and code-based organization.
An average day:
As Operating Systems Services | Linux III, you will manage and oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers and associated hardware/software components within the data center. This role will continuously monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure smooth operations and efficient functioning. You will respond to system alerts, diagnose issues, and swiftly resolve technical problems to minimize downtime and maintain high availability of services. This position will employ scripting to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and enhance system efficiency, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams, document system configurations, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and adherence to standard operating protocols within the data center environment. Additionally, in this position you will:
- Engineer and administer all aspects of the Redhat Linux (RHEL) 7, 8, and 9 virtual and physical servers including: upgrading, patching, troubleshooting, resolving, designing, communicating, analyzing system logs, manage network configurations, storage volumes and configurations, hardening systems to DISA STIG regulatory standard, configuration management, and system monitoring
- Support RHEL 7, 8, and 9 in commercial cloud providers like AWS and Azure
- Perform extensive coding/scripting to support automation efforts using Ansible, GitLab, etc to reduce or eliminate administrative toil.
- Document and perform changes and resolve incidents and problems using client's Configuration Management Tools and Systems
- Produce knowledge transfer documentation to the client as required.
- Provide as needed support to Satellite Server and mail relay.
- Participate in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.
- Provide 24x7x365 support as needed
- RedHat Linux physical and virtual, hosted in VMWare, AWS, Azure, GCP
Basic Qualifications: - As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
- 7+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator or Engineer; with experience in Automation
- Must have hands on experience with, RHEL versions 7, 8 & 9; ideally in a cloud environment like AWS or Azure
- Coding and scripting experience in Github, Ansible or similar Automation tool with the following languages: YAML, Python, Rudy, Ansible Playbook Language.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All employees must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
- DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices. It is important for the employees to demonstrate experience based on ITIL framework.
